All About Google STEP Internship 2024

Applications are now being accepted online for the Google's Software Student Training in Engineering Program (STEP) Internship 2024 Program.

Google Software STEP Summer internships 2024 are scheduled to commence in May 2024 and will span a duration of 10-12 weeks. This internship opportunity is specifically designed for students who are presently enrolled in a Bachelor's program, with a focus or intention to major in Computer Science or a related technical field. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work at Google's office locations in Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Pune.

About STEP Internship:

STEP (Student Training in Engineering Program), previously referred to as Engineering Practicum, is a 10 - 12 week internship designed for first and second-year undergraduate students who have a strong interest in computer science.

This internship program aims to offer development opportunities to students from historically marginalized groups in the tech industry. Through technical training and professional development, it strive to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical experience.

As a STEP intern, student will have the unique opportunity to collaborate on a software project with fellow interns and experienced Googlers, gaining valuable practical skills in the process.

Program Objectives

1. To offer interns a valuable opportunity to undertake a challenging technical project, enabling them to construct innovative solutions and gain exposure to vast scale and intricate complexities.

2. To assist interns in enhancing their technical skills, fostering self-assurance in their abilities, and equipping them for their future endeavors in the field of computer science. All STEP interns will receive guidance and mentorship from Google engineers, ensuring a fruitful summer experience.

3. To provide interns with an exclusive glimpse into Google's distinctive environment, community, and culture. Interns will have the privilege to attend technical talks by Googlers, gain insights into technical interview preparation, familiarize themselves with Google's coding practices and technologies, and cultivate additional skills that will contribute to their success.

4. To facilitate the formation of vital personal networks and friendships among participants, comprising a diverse group of students who share a common passion for technology and computer science.

Minimum requirements:

  • Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Should have experience in at least one general-purpose programming language.
  • Must possess fluent communication skills in English.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Should be enrolled in a full-time degree program and planning to return to the program after completing the internship.
  • Excellent programming skills in C++, Java, and Python.
  • Must be available for a full-time internship lasting 10-12 weeks between May and August 2024 (specific dates will be provided later in the selection process).
