Opportunity to Learn: ISRO offers free course on 'Geo-data Sharing and Cyber Security'

As a part of the IIRS outreach initiative, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has introduced a free online certification program focusing on cybersecurity. This program, titled 'Geo-data sharing and Cybersecurity,' has been specifically designed for individuals employed in the Central and State Governments.

About the Course:

The Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), part of ISRO, is embarking on a groundbreaking journey into the realm of Cyber Security with the initiation of this interdisciplinary program focused on Cyber Security and Cyber Defense of Critical Infrastructures and Geo-Data sharing. This course encompasses both theoretical knowledge and practical use cases, demonstrating how cyber defense and awareness technology can be efficiently utilized to enhance comprehension and mitigation of cyber threats.

Course Schedule:

14 Days - Frome November 28 to December 11, 2023

Course Content:

  • Overview of Cyber security- Threats and challenges
  • Software tools and products for secure data and information access
  • Safe transactions and data accessing in web and mobile applications
  • Best practices for Cyber Security
  • Online Geo-data sharing and cyber security

Course Registration:

  • Fill and submit the form for getting registration number.
  • Wait for approval mail and login credentials from IIRS.

Course Fee:

There is no course fee for attending this programme.

Award of Certificate:

Based on 70% attendance.

Delhi HC Upholds PepsiCo's Patent Claim for Lay's Potato Variety

The division bench of the Delhi High Court has recently ruled in favor of PepsiCo, granting them a patent for a specific potato variety used in their popular Lay's potato chips. PepsiCo wins Patent Case In 1989, PepsiCo, a renowned New York based  American snacks and beverages manufacturer, established its inaugural facility in India with the purpose of manufacturing potato chips. A specific variety of potato seeds was provided to a group of farmers by the company, who then exclusively sold their produce to PepsiCo at a predetermined price. In 2019, PepsiCo initiated a lawsuit against a select number of Indian farmers for cultivating the FC5 potato cultivar, claiming patent infringement. Additionally, the company sought compensation of over Rs 10 crore ($121,050) from each accused farmer for the alleged infringement.
